The 1st International Conference on Augmented and Virtual Reality (SALENTO AVR 2014) will take place in Lecce (Italy) on September 17-20, 2014 with the aim to bring a community of researchers from academia and industry, computer scientists, engineers, physicians together in order to share points of views, knowledge, experiences and scientific and technical results, related to state-of-the-art solutions and technologies on virtual and augmented reality applications for medicine, cultural heritage, education, industrial sectors, as well as the demonstration of advanced products and technologies.

Presentations and discussions will span topics from virtual environments and augmented reality to 3D user interfaces and the technology needed to enable these environments to a wide range of applications (medical, entertainment, military, design, manufacture, maintenance, arts and cultural heritage).

We invite electronic submissions of papers for oral or poster presentation. The papers will be evaluated by external reviewers and the program committee for the inclusion in the scientific program of the SALENTO AVR Conference.

SALENTO AVR 2014 seeks original and high-quality papers related to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and 3D user interfaces in the following areas:

  • medicine and surgery
  • cultural heritage
  • education
  • entertainment
  • arts
  • military and space
  • industry

Submitted papers will be subject to stringent peer review by at least three experts and carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition.
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings to be published by Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) edited by Springer.
